Background

Human Resources Experience

I have been doing human resource work for more than twenty years and still find it both interesting and rewarding. During my career I have been on the senior management team and been a one-person HR department. I have had responsibility for all aspects of human resources, including: hiring and termination, recruiting and placement, compliance with current state and federal employment laws including locations such as: Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California; New York City and State, Washington D.C., as well as multiple other cities and states, updating and revisions of employee handbooks, performance evaluations, benefits administration, presentations to management and staff on issues such as overtime laws and exempt/non-exempt status and day-to-day experience in all other customary human resource areas.

Since I have human resource clients who rely on my expertise, I am very up to date on human resource and employment laws. I am certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). I also have a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management. I am a graduate of Hofstra Law School. I am a current member of HR.Com (Formerly the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA)) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Prior Employment Experience

Since 2005 I have owned a consulting firm specializing in the areas of human resources and management for nonprofit and for profit companies.

From 2001-2005, I held the position of Director of Finance and Operations at the California Historical Society. Previously I held the positions of Director of Administration and Finance at the public-interest law firm, Public Advocates, and the same position at the public-interest law firm, The Public Interest Law Offices. In those positions, I had complete responsibility for all financial areas of the organizations. Including: monthly financial statements, creation of annual budget, grants administration, yearly audit, business planning, tax filings, investments, endowments, general accounting, payroll, supervision of accounting staff, and leadership in all other typical financial matters.
